This is the first edition of this new section of AcheiUSA. Let’s show our organization here that, although very young, is already gaining important spaces in the lives of many people in Brazil and the USA. We would like first to introduce ourselves and tell a bit of our 10 months old. You will know who we are, what we’re doing, who we’re helping and who is on our boat contributing to the achievement of our mission to help the poorest in Brazil.
Welcome to the Brazilian Mission in AcheiUSA. We hope you educate yourself, have fun and perhaps participate as well.
What is the Brazilian Mission
We are a nonprofit organization formed by a group of people who live and work in the U.S. in search of financial and logistical assistance to organizations and charities in Brazil.
How it all began
This was the beginning of the realization of a dream. We live in the U.S. and live away from poverty, social inequality, crime, inhumanity, etc.. But it is difficult for us BM, forget and do not worry. Then in June 2003, we put our ideas on paper and it was beautiful to see, instantly, we were not alone, that many Brazilians and Americans wanted to make a contribution and join us. The organization was taking shape and now we’re putting that dream into action: we are changing little by little reality in some regions of our country.
Our vision and our values
We believe that one day the social differences that plagues our country today, just stay in our minds, and that true reality is more just, more equal. We are at the start of something beautiful. We want to know the needs and help in the most simple and effective. We believe that with our work force and will, we’ll give the Brazilian Mission all its vitality and longevity to change our reality for at least part of our country. We also believe that there are many Brazilians and Americans who would love to contribute in many ways to make it happen.
Where we operate in Brazil
We all know that the Northeast is one of the poorest areas of our country. We chose the first Ceará, not only because they need us but also because people know who we’re working. Plans are to help more charities in many other areas of our country. But we must go slowly mainly by resources that are few in comparison to the large number of institutions that need help. Therefore it is important that everyone do their part.
How do we help and how you can help
To make our mission possible, seek funds through events, bazaars, campaigns and partnerships with businesses. At the end of the year when all resources are collected, make delivery in financing in Brazil. You can help by attending our events or helping us with monetary donations or partnerships. All donations are posted on our website and you will know who is on our boat as well.
How to choose the projects to be funded.
In 2003 the World Bank has funded six independent projects that attended various segments of society in the state of Ceara as: children, adolescents, nutrition in general. All were very good and we believe it will bring some change in its area of action.
But we feel that the family should be the focus of our actions. That’s why we decided from the year 2004 to fund projects that will follow the program tested and approved by UNESCO’s Social Inclusion Lar Fabiano of Christ because we believe that the family should be assisted as a whole.
The project includes the creation of networks between existing organizations for the whole family to be assisted. It develops the methodology care-promotional and from a diagnosis of the poverty situation of households, they will be able to progressively acquire competence for the achievement of its social and financial autonomy for five years. We will finance the project toward self-reliance, which shall be a maximum of three years.
The social impact of this program is huge, we share the philosophy that the family is the cell of society and should be treated as a whole.

The Brazilian store Mobile Zone, which operates the mall, supermarket Latino, on Dixie Highway, was robbed early on Monday (21), by a black man, armed with a handgun, who fled on foot, taking $ 400 cash. This was the fourth shop raided by armed robbers in Broward, in less than a week.
The store manager of mobile phones, Carolina Junqueira, said the assailant appeared between 17 and 20 years, wore a black hooded sweatshirt and wore a bandana hiding his face. “He was a little nervous, cursing me, wanting money. I gave $ 200, he said he wanted more, I spent over $ 200. He was leaving when he returned to threaten me that I did not care for the police, and went jumping around, happy with the money, “said Junqueira.
Although the security cameras of the Mobile Zone has registered the image of the assailant on his back, and with the distorted colors, cameras Restaurant Chico’s Place, located in the same mall, they showed the face of the assailant, two minutes before he stopped in front the restaurant to put the bandana on his face.
At least eight police cars were deployed to the scene and a helicopter is flying over the area. Junqueira regrets that the first two times they called the phone number 911, once the thief left the store, nobody has answered the call. “I called two times, called several times and nobody answered. I called the store owner, and he told me he insisted. Just then the police attended. They arrived here in five minutes.
At dawn on Tuesday (15), at least two people, whose images were recorded by security cameras, already referred to the police, went into three stores in the Village Shops, located in the Fed-eral Highway in Deerfield Beach. The assailants did not hurry. According to police, remained in place for at least three hours. Used in addition to a ladder, a Maquita and even a jackhammer. In all, raided three shops and fled taking computer, camera and a small amount of money. The official survey of the damage has not been disclosed.
According to police, with a ladder, the thieves climbed the roof of the Creative Studio, made a hole, down the stairs, opened a second hole in the wall and had access to Tax House, also owned by a Brazilian. The intention of the robbers, according to police, was to get to the Pawn Shop, adjacent to the House Tax, and break into the vault. The owner of Pawn Shop declined to comment on the robbery.
Safe
In accordance with Breno Gomes, owner of Tax House, the burglars broke furniture and rolled his shop. “They opened our box and took $ 500 in cash,” he said. He believes that the marginal knew of the safe in the shop next door. “These guys came specifically knowing that it existed because they have arrived safe piercing the walls in search of safe,” said Bruno.
Background
Last year, there have been three robberies in the same shopping mall, and police suspect the involvement of Brazilians. The most recent occurred in December when thugs invaded the Brazilian Supermarket and Butcher, taking checks and cash. Another store robbed earlier in the same mall, was the ACC Computers in September last year.
- I do not know if there is a relation with the previous robberies. They may even be the same people, but my opinion is that this is a reflection of the situation of the country’s own police told me that crimes have increased in this region recently, “said Brenda.
Security
The owner of Creative Studio, Junior Gill, said his shop took a computer with 17-inch screen. He also has no doubt that the assailants knew the place. “I do not know exactly if they knew the place in detail, but knew something,” he said. He believes the solution to the increasing cases of theft would be to hire private security guards. “The question is the owner of the mall offering more security,” he said.
Alarm
Although only the Pawn Shop had security cameras, all stores have alarms and “motion detector (motion detector), which were not fired. “The alarm was on, but knew dribble. Not passed the motion detector because they went through the roof, “lamented Gonçalves.
Broward Sheriff Office officials triggered the Crime Scene Unit, which recog-lheu fingerprints of all the locations to which the thieves had access.
